Annotations of Rabbi Yeruchem Fischel Perla on Tractate Menachot, Me'ila and Halachot Ketanot
Tractates Menachot and Meila. Warsaw, 1863. Annotations by genius Rabbi Yeruchem Fishel Perla, author of the great elucidation on the Sefer HaMitzvot of Rabbi Saadya Gaon.
The pages of the gemara are filled with tens of annotations in his hand and many tens of corrections to the gemara and Tosfot, including corrections and annotations to Halachot Ketanot. These revisions include occasional deletions of a word or letter.
Even the smallest of these corrections, made by such an esteemed person, in particular on Seder Kadshim, are extremely significant. Rabbi Perla's stamp appears in a few locations in the book. The handwriting in this book is identical to Rabbi Perla's writing in other locations.
Rabbi Yeruchem Yehuda Fischel Perla was born in Warsaw in [1846]. He travelled to Lomza at a young age; first to the yeshiva of the Maharal Diskin and then to learn by Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. Rabbi Perla was a genius, and knowledgeable in all aspects of the Torah. He lived In Warsaw but refused to enter the rabbinate. He had one of the largest, most important libraries in Poland. In 1927, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. He passed away in 1934. His book on the Sefer HaMitzvot of Rabbi Saadya Gaon includes a profound, comprehensive analysis of all 613 mitzvot, along with a comparison to other early mitzvah lists.
The two tractates are bound together. This volume was well used. Worming holes, a number of leaves are detached. Blemished, rubbed leather binding. Moderate condition.
