Yeshuot Yaakov on the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim by Rabbi Yaakov Meshulem Orenstein. Zolkiew, 1828. First edition. Pedigreed copy.
Complete set on the entire Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim of Rabbi Yaakov Orenstein's of Lemberg's work. Includes two editions on Rosh Chodesh and the laws of Pesach. One is included in the second section and the second, with a separate title page, is included in the third section.
Owner signature of Rabbi Zecharya Shapira and lengthy comment (section four, leaf 433). Rabbi Zecharya Shapira (1819-1893) was a prestigious Hungarian rabbi. He was the rabbi of Dorog and then Varnov (Otzar HaRabbanim 5585). His Torah thoughts were printed in "Even Nezer" together with the 'Talilei Sheina" (Varnov, 1830), there, in a letter from Rabbi Shalom Sofer, there is information regarding his biography and greatness (a copy included with this lot). He is mentioned in the Shu"t Maharam Schick a number of times, in Shu"t Shevet Sofer, and Rabbi Yitzchak Shmelkes' "Beit Yitzchak. The work of his disciple, Rabbi Yehudah Greenwald, "Yavo Chaim" (Weizen, 1917) quotes one of his responses. Owner stamp of יהודה בהרב יהושע סג"ל דומ"ץ פה וארשא (Otzar HaRabbanim 7037(.
Four volumes (missing three leaves of supplements in the last volume). Large worming holes. Overall moderate-fine condition.
