Collection of American books [5]
* Divrei Emmet, part one. A polemic work against Rabbi Yaakov David Wilovsky – the Ridbaz. Chicago, [1904]. 44 leaves, 25 cm.
The Ridbaz served as the rabbi of several important communities, including Slutsk, and immigrated to America. In his activities there to strengthen ritual slaughter he encountered the opposition of Rabbi Zvi Shimon Elbaum. In this work Rabbi Elbaum responds aggressively, quoting the words of the Ridbaz and returning fire. As a result of this controversy, the Ridbaz immigrated to Israel, where he served as the rabbi of Safed where he also established a yeshiva. On pages 49-50 is a photocopy of the handwritten agreement between the Ridbaz and the ritual slaughterers. Goldman 1129. Mishkin, Chicago 37.
* Birkat Av. Novellae, homilies, and commentary by Rabbi Abba Baruch HaKohen. Chicago, [1900]. 63 [1] pages, 23.5 cm. On page 40 is a poem by Rabbi Yisrael Salanter. Goldman 708. Mishkin, Chicago 31.
