Proclamation Requesting Assistance with Prisoner Release. Senna, Kurdistan, 1752

Handwritten. Proclamation requesting donations for the release of prisoners, from the Senna community in Kurdistan after the pogroms of 1752.

Specifications: [1] page, paper pasted on cardboard. 23X31 cm. Oriental handwriting.

Unique features: The document describes the difficult situation in the community and refers to the names of those killed as well as orphans. The document is signed by Rabbis Yehuda son of Zevulun and Chaim son of Yitzchak. On the bottom of the page, "Rabbi son of the honorable Rabbi Yaakov" wrote that his community raised a small sum and, in addition, sent two Torah scrolls to the Senna community because they were left without Torah scrolls.

Condition: Moderate-poor. Fold marks, wear on the edges of the page, small tears mainly along the fold, stains.
