Background: Rabbi Amram Greenwald was an outstanding disciple of the Ktav Sofer, who was fond of and admired him, and chose him to help him. He called him "my student, who is like a son" in his responsa. Rabbi Amram was famed for his genius and righteousness. After his engagement, he studied with the Maharam Ash. He spent all his days in Csorna, without interest in serving in the rabbinate. He passed away on the 28th of Nissan, 1870. Refer to: Ma"z Kinstlicher, HaChatam Sofer V'Talmidav, 532. His sons include Rabbi Moshe Greenwald of Chust, author of Arugat HaBosem, and Rabbi Eliezer Dovid of Satmar. Many Hungarian rabbis were his progeny.
Additional signature and stamp: Shmuel Greenwald, Munkacs.
