"Sefer Akeidat Yitzchak." Copy Belonging to Rabbi Asher Anshel Jungreis, Rabbi of Csenger

Sefer Akeidat Yitzchak by Rabbi Yitzchak Arama. Lemberg, [1808]. The top of the title page bears the signature of Rabbi Asher Anshel Jungreis, rabbi of Csenger, prominent Hungarian rabbi and righteous person.

Unique features: Signature of Rabbi Asher Anshel Jungreis, rabbi of Csenger and author of Menuchat Asher. Born in [1806] and studied with the Chatam Sofer and the Maharam Eisenstadt. In [1834] he was appointed rabbi of Csenger, where he served for forty years, known as a holy person who often fasted and as a wonder worker. At the same time, he was knowledgeable in the field of medicine, and people thronged to his doorstep to ask for his advice and blessings. He passed away in [1873]. His Torah thoughts were printed in the Menuchas Asher on the Talmud, Sighet-Munkacs, 1876-1908; more of his works have been printed recently. A few biographies have been written about this personality: Rabban U'Moshian shel Yisrael, by Chaim Aryeh Reinitz; and Nifloat Asher by Yeshayahu Jungreis, both printed in Jerusalem 2004.

Authorization written by an expert confirming the handwriting of the prominent Hungarian rabbi and noted wonder worker included in this lot.
