Sha'are Deah, Pedigree Copy, Glosses
Sha'are Deah on Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh Deah section. Two volumes bound together with separate title pages, by Rabbi Elazar Lowy, author of Shemen Rokeach. Vienna, 1821-1828. Copy that belonged to the gaon Rabbi Shraga HaLevi Horowitz, Av Beit Din of Pupa and Paks and friend of the Chatam Sofer. Among the book's leaves, there are several lengthy glosses that have not been printed.
Lengthy owner's notation on the leaf preceding the title page: "Belongs to the Adm"o the rabbi, the great gaon, light of the Diaspora, Shraga HaLevi Horowitz ..." Lengthy scholarly glosses, apparently never printed, on pages 23b, 24a and 49a.
140; [1] 84 leaves. Approximately 35 cm.
Fine condition: Minimal aging and mold stains. Several leaves are partially detached. Simple binding.
