Derech Tzedakah, Dedication by Renowned Philanthropist Wissotzky to Rabbi Shmuel Salant

Derech Tzedakah - details of the jubilee celebration of by our brethren upon the 70th birthday of our elder philanthropist Mr. Kalonymus Ze'ev Wissotzky, 12 Tammuz 1894. Published by an association of his admirers. Warsaw, 1895. Copy that belonged to the rabbi of Jerusalem, the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant.

Special book published in honor of the 70th birthday of the famous Jewish philanthropist Kalonymus Ze'ev Wissotzky [1824-1904], founder of "Wissotzky Tea, " who was a renowned Jewish philanthropist and activist. The book includes articles and letters sent especially in honor of the jubilee celebration and all acclaim and compliment Mr. Wissotzky, and expound his charitable deeds and his activities for the public good.

The copy before us was given by Ze'ev Wissotzky to the rabbi of Jerusalem, the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant. On the reverse side of the title page, there is an inscription in a foreign language signed by Wissotzky stating that the book was given to Rabbi Shmuel Salant of Jerusalem, noting the location and the date.

The book is lacking 4 leaves (in the middle). From the way they were torn out, it can be assumed that they were intentionally torn out; it is possible they were torn out by Rabbi Shmuel Salant himself. Indeed, among the many writers there were those of whom the rabbis did not approve. The portrait of Ze'ev Jabotinsky is missing as well, apparently also intentionally torn out.

[2] 3-144 pp. 21 cm. High-quality paper.
