[16], 573 pages, [40]. First edition. London 1641, section one (the second section was published before the first section in 1639). Comments and notations throughout the book.
This lexicon with its dictionary and index of Biblical words became the classic work and basis for future studies of language by experts such as William Gouge and Thomas Fuller. The author, Edward Leigh, was a Puritan. He authored a number of works; this is his most significant. Different editions were printed in many languages. This first edition of the work (the first section of two books) is very rare.
Original, parchment binding. Minimal aging stains and worming holes. Fine to very fine condition.
