המחבר מגדולי ירושלים (ת"ס-תקט"ו) התמנה לדיין בבית דינו של הרב אליעזר נחום ולימד בישיבת בית יעקב פירירה, מתלמידיו רבי יונה נבון, מחבר שו"ת נחפה בכסף ורבו של מרן החיד"א.
החלקים הראשונים נדפסו בחיי המחבר ומיד לאחר פטירתו, והחלק שלפנינו נדפס על ידי צאצאיו כ 150 שנה אחרי פטירתו.
