בשער: נחל נובע ממקור תלמוד בבלי וירושלמי ספרא ספרי מכילתא ותוספתא מדרשים וילקוטים ספרי ראשונים ואחרונים.
המחבר רבי אברהם משכיל-לאיתן (תקמ"ח-תר"ח), היה מגדולי רבני מינסק. הספר הובא לדפוס על ידי בנו רבי נפתלי משכיל לאיתן, שהוסיף מחידושיו.
