המחבר: הרב יצחק מינקובסקי - (תקמ"ח – תרי"ב) בבחרותו למד בישיבת וולוז'ין אצל רבי חיים מוולוז'ין. היה רבה של קרלין ומחבר הספרים הנודעים קרן אורה. היה אחיו של רבי יעקב מקרלין.
בעת הדפסת השער המחבר היה בחיים, אולם בדף האחרון נכתב על פטירתו.
