Rabbi Shimon Sofer (1820 - 1883) was the son of the Chassam Sofer and continued his legacy and customs. He was one of the prominent rabbinical leaders of his generation and actively took action in easing the plight of Jews in the Diaspora and strengthening religion. A brilliant scholar, he was well-versed in both the revealed and hidden aspects of Torah. He served first as Av Beis Din of Mattersdorf and later as rabbi of Krakow.
