Letter from Rav Nosson Nota HaLevi קעלל (Kolin/Kellin) av"d Sárbogárd, grandson of the Machatzis HaShekel
Letter written by Rav Nosson Nota Halevi Kellin to Sir Moses Montefiore in [1884].
He starts the letter with good wishes in honor of Sir Montefiore's 99th birthday, and ends with a plea for monetary help because of his many expenses. He writes that he would like to send his sons to learn in the Eisenstadt yeshivah by R' Y"M Perlas, but doesn't have the money to do so. He also mentions that he is the grandson of the Machatzis HaShekel. (Refer to HaChasam Sofer V'Talmidav, p. 531, and Ohalei Shem, p. 290),
Rav Nosson Nota Halevi Kellin, the son of Rav Aharon b"r Yehudah, the son of the Machatzis HaShekel, was born in 1852. He was a talmid of the Ksav Sofer and the Machaneh Chaim. In 1871, he started serving as av"d in Sárbogárd, where he served until his death in 1924. Many of his chiddushei Torah were printed in various Torah journals, such as: Vayilaket Yosef, Tal Talpiot and Torah Mi'Tzion.

Condition: Fine, aging stains. Fold marks.
