17th Century. Rare! Sadeh Yehoshua on the Yerushalmi, Constantinople, 1662. First edition.

Sadeh Yehoshua, section 1 on Zeraim, elucidation of the halachic sections in the Yerushalmi, with the text, by Rav Yehoshua Benveniste.
Includes only the commentary and text of the Yerushalmi on the sections pertaining to halachah and iyun. The author explains that the Yafeh Mareh on the Aggadah sections preempted the need for him to write such a section.
On the last page, the author sharply attacks a printshop worker who intentionally did substandard work and caused errors in the book.

  • One of the first and prominent peirushim on the Yerushalmi.
  • This was the only section published during the author's lifetimes. The remainder of the work was printed in 1749.
  • Stamps of Rav Chaim Berlin (1832-1913), av"d and r"m in Volozhin, Rav of Moscow and Yerushalayim. Son of the Netziv of Volozhin.
