Glosses in the hand of Rabbi Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz on Divrei Yeruchem.

Chiddushim on the four sections of the Shulchan Aruch by Rabbi Yeruchem Asher Warhaftig. The author inscribed and signed the title page to Rabbi Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz, dated 1940.

The margins of the book contain a number of glosses in the hand of Rav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz. On the last leaf, he quotes an answer in the name of Reb Itzele Ponevezher and adds, “ When they said this to the great Gaon Rav Chaim of Brisk he praised it greatly.”

Rav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz (1914-2011) was the Rosh Yeshivah of Ponevezh L’Tzeirim since it was founded. He lectured there for about sixty years and taught thousands of students. He was a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and was a leader of the charedi population in Eretz Yisroel. After his marriage to the daughter of HaGaon HaRav Binyamin Gershonwitz (the Chazon Ish was his shadchan and walked him to the chupah), he started teaching in Tiferes Tzion and his students included Rav Chaim Kanievsky, who treated him with great respect his entire life. He integrated mussar with Torah genius in the style of Slobodka-Chevron where he had learned.
