Letter of thanks, greetings for the new year and request for assistance for Yeshivah Sha’ar HaTorah in Grodno, “because few are those who really care about the yeshivah that I head.”
Rabbi Shimon Shkop was a great Torah teacher (1860-1940). He was av”d and Rosh Yeshivah of Sha’ar HaTorah in Grodno and teacher of all the Roshei Yeshivot of the next generation. He paved a way for learning Gemara and the Rishonim and was renowned world over for his famed
Sha’arei Yosher. Still today, his teachings are heard in batei medrash worldwide. ,
A leader of his generation and a senior rabbi of his time. The Chafetz Chaim occasionally asked him to visit Radin so the two could discuss communal issues.
