Manuscript. Sefer Pe’er Yisrael — Torah novellae, riddles, poems and segulot from the sages of the generation. Werkendam (Holland). [1803-1805]

Complete manuscript with three sections, with illustrated title page and a star-shaped poem in calligraphy by Rav Shlomo ben Yaakov of Strelitz. Werkendam (Holland) [1803-1805].
He signed his name at the end of the introduction: שלמה בלא"א המנוח כ"ה יעקב ז"ל משטרעליץ נכד הגאון המפורסם מוהר"ר צבי הירש ליבשיץ ש"ץ ונאמן דק"ק ברלין וברעסלויא (Shlomo ben Yaakov z”l of Strelitz, grandson of famed Rav Zvi Hirsch Libshitz …of Berlin and Berslau).

Three sections:
Section 1 – Torah novellae from the author and ideas he heard from other Torah sages.
Section 2 – Segulot and Cures, some tried and tested, from me and others. Including the segula of Rabbeinu Yoel Baal Shem for women in difficult labor and a cure for lung disease from the doctor Shmuel of Hamburg.
Section 3: Songs and rhymed riddles.

In his introduction, the author writes his biography and travels, including a visit “to the city of Prague, to hear words from the pure and holy mouth of Rav Yechezkel Landau…But for lack of money I didn’t merit, since I had no means to rent a room." From there he traveled to Frankfurt, Furth and Neustadt, where he describes his miraculous rescue from a flood and sickness.

The author quotes many rabbanim, including: Rav Leib Halberstam, dayan and rebbe in Yeshiva HaRama in Furth, a talmid of the Pnei Yehoshua; Rav Moshe Nias [av”d נייקערכן and שוואל , author of Yismach Moshe, Leiden, 1771); Rav Feivel Boskowitz ; Rav Eliyahu Kitzingen, av”d דמדינות; Efraim Benisti [=Benvenesti], Chacham from Safed (apparently an unknown Shadar from Safed); Rav Naftali Katz and more.

[65] leaves (130 pages) about 16 cm. Mentions dates between 1803-1805, other than the title page, which indicates 1833. Fine condition. Nice, new leather bindןng. This manuscript was never printed.
