Letter from Rabbi Akiva Lehren to the Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Shmuel Salant.
The first section discusses funds that was transferred by the author of the Aruch L’Ner to the needy of Eretz Israel.
The second section is a request to learn in memory of a deceased donor from Amsterdam, whose wife would send money for this purpose.
Rabbi Akiva Lehren of Amsterdam (1795-1875) merited both Torah and wealth, his brother Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Lerhen and they headed the Pekidim V’Amraclim in Amsterdam which supported the Jewish community in Eretz Israel. Rabbi Akiva also donated a lot of his own funds for the yishuv and battled against the changes of the reformers and maskilim in and out of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam [1870] 14x11 cm. The letter was written by Rabbi Akiva Lehren’s secretary, with his signature. Thin paper, fine condition.
