Miniature manuscript. Sefer Shulchan HaTahor. Prague, [1771]
Laws of Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah necessary for daily life by Rabbi Dovid Pardo of Amsterdam with the Hagahot HaRamah, published by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Premishla.
This manuscript was copied from the Amsterdam edition of [1770], in which Rav Zvi Hirsch adapted the work for Ashkenazim by adding the Hagahot HaRama”h for the first time. Opens with a copy of the approbation of Rabbi Shaul of Amsterdam.
The title page was also copied from that Amsterdam edition, but with a change to the chronograph indicating that it was copied a year later, in [1771]
.
The colophon notes: Written by Kalman ben Shmuel of Prague, however it is clear that this was written over a different name. In addition, the copier's name on the title page is crossed out.
Miniature: 9.5 cm. Nice, organized manuscript. Title page in an architectural border, with the name of the copier blacked out in the margin. Original, rubbed leather binding. Fine condition.
