Lolita - First Israeli Edition Published by Steimatzky- One of the First Editions in English
Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita.
Published by the Olympia Press. Printed in Israel for Olympia Press by Steimatzky's Agency.
Printed by Offset Sh. Monson, Jerusalem.
The first English edition of "Lolita" was published by Olympia Press (for erotic literature) in Paris in 1955, as it was not possible to publish the book in the USA at that time. At the same time, the publishing rights also went to Steimatzky, who published it in Jerusalem in this first Israeli edition in English, Shortly before it was translated into Hebrew for the first time in 1959. Although the year indicated on the rights page is 1955, the book was probably printed and published around 1958. Unfortunately, the original (and numbered) dust-jacket of this edition is missing.
223 pp., 19X12 cm. Very good condition, except that the dust-jacket is missing.
