A Black and white postcard with a picture of a murdered man from the Proskurov pogrom
The Proskurov pogrom was a pogrom that took place on Saturday, February 15, 1919 in the city of Proskurov (now Khmelnytskyi), as part of the "Petliura Riots" during the Russian Civil War. Within three and a half hours, over 1,200 Jews were murdered and over 1,000 Jews were injured, including women and children. The pogrom was carried out by soldiers of the army of the People's Republic of Ukraine. The pogrom was carried out only with bayonets, because the soldiers were ordered not to use ammunition.
