The American philologist Edward Robinson (1794-1863) is considered a founding figure in the field of biblical geography and archeology. In 1838 he came to Palestine with Eli Smith, and the two were able to identify many biblical places. The original edition of their book won the gold medal of the Royal Geographical Society. Robinson and Smith returned toPalestine in 1852 and published this enlarged edition in 1856. Including two folding maps. (A copy of the first edition can be found in lot 21).
English, 664 pages, reasonable condition: the spine is detached from the inside and the first paged are partially detached. 23X15 cm.
