AN EXTRAODINARY EUROPEAN SILVERED AND GILT ESTHER SCROLL CASE FITTED WITH A DECORATED 'HAMELECH' ESTHER SCROLL
19th century. Designed as a book with a cover inset with turqoise stones. Repousee, etched rocaille centered with a cartouche inscribed ' With thanks to G-d Esther scroll'. Inscribed inside with the blessings of the scroll and the song 'shoshanat yaakov'. 6x8 cm. Scroll- 5 cm high- Ink and gouache on parchment, each column enframed with floral and architectural motifs surmounted by birds; along the lower border lions enclosed within hemispheres are set against a background of lushly colored flora and berries. *A similar item appears in Sotheby's auction no.
