Rare and historic volume: Collection of the beginning volumes of the important Yiddish publication “Dos Yiddishe Licht”, published in New York from February 1923.

The volume includes the first 33 editions of this important and significant publication, well-kept and preserved.

Among the various columns and advertisements is a treasure-trove of the Jewish history and culture that renewed itself in the US of those years.

The immense spiritual danger and decline facing Jewish youth in the US at the time, a danger of renouncing the faith up-to and including intermarriage, is palpable in the various articles.

The “Dos Yiddishe Licht” publication was one of the first literary – cultural elements that stood as a bulwark against the immense tide of faithlessness facing American Jewry.

In later years, especially after thousands of Orthodox Jews, headed by great limunaries and Gedolim, immigrated to the US post WWII, American Jewry became the bastion of Torah and piety, Chassidus and meticulousness in keeping Mitzvot it is today.

However, one of the pioneers of this wave was this important publication, Dos Yiddishe Licht, whose first year of publication is bound in this volume.
