Sefer ‘Shalmei Tzibbur’ (without ‘Shalmeui Chagiga’), laws of prayers and customs regarding the synagogue during the weekdays, by the Chacham Bashi and Rishon Letzion, the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov ben Rabbi Yom Tov Algazi, from the sages of Izmir and Yerushalayim. With a preface and glosses by Rabbi Avraham Chayun. Printing house of Mordechai Nachman and David Yisraelija, Salonika, 1790. Rare first edition.

On reverse of the title page and on the approbations page are an ownership notation and signatures: ‘I purchased from the Chacham … Yaakov di May… Yaakov Gabbai’, ‘This Sefer belong… Yaakov di Mayo’, ‘This Sefer belongs to… Bechor Gabbai’, and ‘Meir Moshe Taranto’. On the back flyleaf are some calculations in Ladino.

[3], 191, 331-342 pp. Without the 2nd part of the Sefer, called ‘Shalmei Chagiga’.
Other exemplars of this Sefer appear either as 1 volume or as 2 volumes.
Some are bound together in a volume of [3], 348 pp.
Others are bound in two volumes, where vol. I is identical in page count to this exemplar, and vol. II, which is missing, has [1], 191-348 pp.

Worn cardboard cover. Stains. Some dog-ears. Good condition.
