This commentary was originally published in Prague, 1861 as one of two commentaries on the Haggadah ‘Pduyas Toviah’, but this edition is the only one where the Haggadah was published only with the ‘Or Yisrael’ commentary.

Rabbi Yosef Yehuda Leib son of Rabbi Shimon Hacohen Hoffmann – author of the commentary ‘Or Yisrael’ on the Haggadah (Vienna, 1848) and Sefer ‘Arba’ah Amudei HaBayit’ (Vienna, 1858). In the preface is told that the Gedolim of the generation testified on him that he was exalted in Torah and piety, sharp and well-versed, and a complete Tzaddik. Resided in Shimani.
