First Edition of the Taz! Turei Zahav on Choshen Mishpat. Published by the Chacham Zvi Hamburg, 1692
Sefer Turei Zahav on Choshen Mishpat [Siman 1-246]. Hamburg, [1692]. First edition of the Taz on Choshen Mishpat, which was edited and published by the Chacham Zvi. Rare.
Rabbeinu David Halevi, Baal Turei Zahav (1586-1667). In his lifetime, he managed to publish his work on the Shulchan Aruch, on sections Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah only. The work was printed with the Shulchan Aruch itself. His work on Choshen Mishpat, however, was published after his passing. It was edited by Rabbeinu Zvi Hirsch Ashkenazi, author of the Chacham Zvi and published as a book in itself. To this edition, he also added Chidushim by the author of Kikayon Deyonah and by Rabbi Shmuel Koidinover. He also added his own glosses beginning with "אמר המגיה". On the last leaf, Chacham Zvi added his own Chidushim.
The Chacham Zvi's name does not appear on the title page, but rather at the end of the book.
98 leaves. 18 cm. With stamps of "חברה ש"ס פעה"ק יפו ת"ו נוסדה בשנת אעת"ר לפ"ק". Ancient signature on verso of the title page.
New binding. Moth holes. Stains. Folds to corners. Small perforation to one of the leaves. Fair condition.
