Kvitel by the Father of Agunos Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Roller of Niametz to the rav of Husiatyn

Kvitel written by the great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Roller Av Beis Din of Targo Niametz 'Father of the Agunos' to Maran the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Husiatyn, the grandson of Aterest Tiferes Yisroel of Ruzhin, with pleas not to fail with Dvar Halacha and succeed studying Torah Lishmah. 


In the Kvitel he pleads with G-d, writing: 

חיים מרדכי בן דבורה לישועה בנו"ג [בנפש וגוף] השי"ת ירחם עלי לישב במנוחה וללמוד וללמד תורה לשמה מתוך הרחבה ושלא אכשל חלילה בדבר הלכה ולהיות ממזכי הרבים ולעבוד את ד' בו....בלב שלם

On the top of the Kvitel he wrote the name of his city 'Niametz' as was customary. 



The great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Roller [1868-1947] a great expert on Hataras Agunos, who served as the father of the Agunos after World War I and II, making tremendous efforts to enable Agunos to remarry. Even on his deathbed, he called the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Herzog to find a Heiter for an Agunah. Author of Shut Be'er Chaim Mordechai. 


[1] handwritten Kvitel. Professionally restored, affecting a single word in the lower margins. Good condition.
