Rare Milah booklet, a treasure trove for the history of the Jews of Tiszafüred in Northern Hungary, one of the largest and most important communities of Hungary. The booklet refers to the most pedigreed families of the community. 


Milah booklet which begins with Seder HaMilah that was printed in Sefer 'Sod Hashem' with Sharvis HaZahav and Bris Hashem - Wien, 1837. At its end, the customs of Bris Milah in Ashkenaz language and then complete leaves laden with names of children who were circumcised on the knees of the rabbis of the cities and its famed Geonim: 

The holy Geonim Rabbi Yisroel Yonah Zvi the father of the holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rosenberg of Unsdorf, Rabbi Moshe Nosson Note Jungreis author of Toras Moshe natan, Rabbi Moshe Sofer the son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Sholom of Tapaltshani, Rabbi Shmuel Binyomin Hacohen Starsser the son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Akiva the grandson of Maran the Chassam Sofer. 

The booklet contains detailed and vivid descriptions by two important Mohalim: the rabbinic Baruch Simcha Greenberger [1822-1867, served as a Mohel during the years ca. 1864-1866], the father of the Greenberger, Broin and Blass families. The second Mohel, his rabbinic son-in-law Zvi Hirsch Blass, an important member of the community who merited being the in-law of the Rav of the community the holy Gaon author of Toras Moshe Natan. He circumcised 373 children [!]. 


Among the children mentioned are many of the family of holy Geonim the Jungreis family, descendants of Maran the author of Toras Moshe Natan and the Menuchas Moshe, including his son Rabbi Asher Anschil Av Beis Din of Diandiash, his important rabbinic grandsons and the grandsons of the holy Gaon author of Menuchas Asher of Tshenger

There is also a notation from the descendants of the holy Gaon author of the Machaneh Chaim and his son the holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Sholom and his grandson Rabbi Moshe Sofer.  

Children from nearby cities and villages such as Ediek, Tshege, Mediesh, Safanash, Asfalatsh and others are also mentioned. 


This is a treasure trove for the history of the important city of Tiszafüred and its vicinity and their excellent Jewish communities from the years 1863-1906.
