Important historical document! Lengthy letter which was sent from Tiberius, referring to the great loss of the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham of Kalisk 'מקול השמועה חרדה נפשינו ואמרנו מי יעמוד בפרץ'.

The lengthy letter, four full pages, was written by the Chassid Rav the Tzaddik Divine Kabbalist Rabbi Shaul, the son of the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Segal Harker [ca. 1775-1853] who eventually became the president and head of the Chassidic community of Tiberius and who was one of the only survivors of the terrible earthquake of 1837.

He merited seeing the holy Rav of Vitebsk in his youth and the holy Rav of Ruzhin. He also followed the holy Tzaddikim Rabbi Baruch of Mezhibuzh, Rabbi Mordechai and his son Rabbi Noah Malkovich, Rabbi Shmuel of Kominka and more.

The letter deals with the situation of the community, sending money to Tiberius and the new Semachos, a year only after the passing of the holy Rav of Kalisk, including lengthy references to the great loss. The letter was sent to Rabbi Yisroel - the loyal Gabai of Kollelos HaChassidim of the Holy Land, who is also mentioned in a letter by the holy Rav of Kalisk from 1806. In the letter, Rabbi Shaul informs Rabbi Yisroel of the Shiduch of his daughter and the son of the important Rav Rabbi Yitzchak Hacohen Shadar, about him he says 'Believe me my beloved friend that he was beloved by the Admor the Divine Rav' - the Rav of Kalisk. The letter contains additional matters of Shadarus and charity.

At the beginning of the letter, he refers to the great loss 'מקול השמועה חרדה נפשינו ואמרנו מי יעמוד בפרץ ומי יגדור גדר לחזק לבב העם ולהאיר להם בנתיב מצוה זאת כבראשונה, לפניה לא היה ואחריו מי יקום ועם כל זה אנו לי-ה ועינינו לאלוקים הרועה אותנו מעודינו עד היום הזה הוא ישלח מלאכו....
