Halachic Responsum with the Customs of Maran the Chassam Sofer Handwritten by His Garndson the Geat Gaon the Hitorerus Teshuva of Erlau.
'And so was the custom of my father teacher!' Letter handwritten by the holy Gaon the Hitorerus Teshuva of Erlau, a response on a lengthy letter by the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Weltz Rosh Av Beis Din of Budapest, with customs of Maran the Kesav Sofer and Halachic responsa. Tornolja, Hungary, 1913.
The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Weltz, Rosh Av Beis Din of Budapest, in a letter on Halacha and customs, to his teacher and friend the holy Gaon Rabbi Shimon Sofer author of Hitorerus Teshuva of Erlau, about sitting or standing during the Kiddush on Sabbath eve, about slicing the bread and exempting the other diners and more. The entire letter is handwritten by Rabbi Yisroel Weltz Rosh Av Beis Din of Budapest and one of Gedolei Hador, sent from Tornolja, where his in-law the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ephraim Balaiti lived, and with his signature.
On the letter, Maran the holy Gaon Rabbi Shimon Sofer the son of Maran the author of the 'Kesav Sofer' and the grandson of Maran the author of the Chassam Sofer, wrote and added lengthy comments in which he introduces holy customs of Maran the Kesav Sofer of Preesburg and his father Maran the Chassam Sofer.
The letter is signed by him.
The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Weltz Av Beis Din of Budapest [1887-1974] a disciple of the author of 'Yalkus Sofer' and author of the 'Da'as Sofer' the holy Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer of Pressburg. After World War I, he became the Rav of Pest, a section of Budapest, where he established a yeshiva and became one of the greatest rabbis of Hungary. After the Holocaust, during which he hid in the house of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yissachar Shlomo Teichtel, he immigrated to Jerusalem, living in the housing project of the rabbis and became one of admired rabbis in Israel.
The holy Gaon author of Hitorerus Teshuva of Erlau Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Erlau [1850-1944] the grandson of Maran the Chassam Sofer, since 1881 Rav and Av Beis Din of the city and th eRosh Yeshiva of its large yeshiva. He headed the campaign aganist the destroyers of religion, continuing the campaign of his father and granfather. Authored the 'Hitorerus Teshuva' Shut, 4 sections and the Sefer 'Shir Maon'. Perished in Auschwitz with the Hungarian Jewry in summer 1944, being of the old age of 95.
