Collection of 3 Military Archive and Appreciation Items – Commander of Brigade 769 and Brigade 61: Carved Position Maps, a Framed Map, and Personal Wooden Items - A collection of 3 personal military appreciation and commemoration items, presented to a Colonel (Lt. Col.) — one of the distinguished commanders of the Golani Brigade and commander of the regional brigades in the complex Northern sector (Brigade 769 and Brigade 612) during the 1970s and 1980s. The lot constitutes a first-rate archival and historical record of the period of fighting on the northern border and against terrorists in Fatahland, and includes personal operational maps combined with beautiful hand-carved woodwork. Lot contents: * Carved wooden tactical appreciation map – (work of the artist Menachem Alon): Brigade 769 (Galilee Formation): A large and magnificent wooden panel presenting a remarkably detailed and colorful hand-engraved map of the Galilee Finger sector, southern Lebanon, and the Golan Heights. The map includes the names of positions, villages, and historic routes (such as Ghajar, Marjayoun, Hasbaya, Al-Khiam, and others). In the corner is mounted a colorful metal emblem of Brigade 769 (”Hiram”) alongside a dedication in raised gilt lettering: ”To the Colonel … upon the conclusion of your role as Brigade Commander, with appreciation and esteem from the commanders of Brigade 769 Headquarters and its soldiers. October 77.” Height: 61 cm. * Framed official operational map of Brigade 769: A large, official historical topographic map of the Galilee Finger area, southern Lebanon, and the Sea of Galilee environs, set within an original white wooden frame. On the map, red pins mark strategic points, bases, or brigade positions from the period. In the lower right corner appears an official dedication plaque: ”To the Colonel … from the Commander of Brigade 769, the Regional Council and its settlements” (appreciation from the heads of front-line communities in the Upper Galilee). Height: 80 cm. * Carved wooden appreciation shield – Brigade 612: A dark vertical wooden panel presenting a striking and artistic wood relief in the shape of a heraldic shield, with a three-dimensional carving of an ancient stone structure on the edge of a cliff (Nimrod Fortress / Beaufort) against a backdrop of a setting sun, fashioned from layers of wood in different tones. In the lower section appears a dedication in raised gilt lettering: ”To the Colonel … upon the conclusion of your role, with appreciation from Regional Brigade 612.” Military ephemera, operational maps, and command appreciation items (handmade) from the 1970s (the key item is precisely dated to October 1977). Height: 35 cm. In good to very good condition, well preserved. The wooden panels are intact, with no cracks or fractures in the structure; the dedication plaques and gilt inscriptions are fully legible, intact, and bright. The framed paper map is well preserved under protection and displays a very slight natural patina of age. * Menachem Alon is one of the most esteemed Israeli artists identified with carved, pyrographic, and nostalgic wood-relief works (”Israeliana”) from the 1970s and 1980s. His works, often made to special order for IDF units and senior defense establishment figures, are considered highly sought-after local folk art items among collectors. Scorch marks.
