On the left side is mounted a gilt metal plate with a hand-engraved inscription: ”To … Commander of the Hermon Brigade, upon the conclusion of your tenure as Deputy Brigade Commander, with appreciation from the commanders and officers of the Region, 15.5.75.” 29×36 cm. * Natural olive-wood bowl/shield — 13th Battalion (Gideon): a striking tribute shield made from a piece of wild, natural olive wood with handcrafted carving. The shield includes a yellow tin plate bearing the green Golani-tree emblem, a 13th Battalion (Gideon) pin, an infantry corps pin, and a silver-toned Golani fighter pin. At the center is mounted a dedication plate: ”To … Brigade Commander 1, with appreciation, 13th Battalion.” 35×22 cm. * Acrylic paperweight — Officers' School (Base 1): a desk tribute item consisting of a transparent acrylic cube with black base and top, including an upper slot. On the front appears a gold-embossed inscription: ”To Lieutenant Colonel … with appreciation, the Officers' School” (Base 1, from the period of his service as commander of a cadets' battalion or in a command role at the Officers' School). All lot items are sold together as a single historical set in superb, well-preserved original vintage collector's condition. The wooden panels and acrylic components are intact with no deep cracks, the dedication plates and engravings are fully legible and clear, and the metal decorations retain their original luster (the clock mechanisms are sold as-is in original collector's condition). * Menachem Alon is one of the most respected Israeli artists, most closely associated with nostalgic carving, pyrography, and wooden relief works (”Israeliana” pieces) from the 1970s and 1980s. His works, often made on special commission for IDF units and senior defense establishment figures, are considered highly sought-after pieces of local folk art among collectors.
