Ceremonial Top Sheet for a Double Bed with Rich Orange Hand Embroidery – Vintage Trousseau, Mid-20th Century - A ceremonial top sheet (top sheet / fold sheet) for a double bed, made from sturdy white fabric of a bygone era that has preserved its quality and original strength over decades. The piece was sewn and embroidered with great care as part of a traditional trousseau linen set, and it represents the nostalgic bed-making method of the mid-20th century: the sheet was spread over the mattress and transitional blanket, with its upper portion folded back in a wide, elegant outward fold over the blanket, directly below the pillows. The aesthetic highlight of the sheet is rich, dense, and prominent thread embroidery in a warm orange-terracotta tone, extending along the corner edges in a rectangular angular structure in the form of the letter ”Resh.” The interlaced leaf and flower motifs were embroidered with great precision and were designed specifically for the decorative fold at the head of the bed; the piece therefore requires no internal clips or buttons. The item is sold as-is, as a vintage textile and collectible object. In very good, clean condition and usable. Due to many decades of storage in a wardrobe, the sheet displays prominent fold lines (clearly visible in the photographs) and may show slight age marks or light surface yellowing of the white fabric, removable with gentle cleaning and delicate washing.  120×210 cm.
