Asta Bidspirit | Antique Transitional Blanket / Trousseau

Antique Transitional Blanket / Trousseau Bedspread with Geometric Hand Embroidery at Corners and Original Patent-Button Sleeve – Mid-20th Century - An antique transitional blanket (ceremonial bedspread) designed and sewn as part of a bride's elaborate trousseau set. The piece is made from heavy, quality white fabric of a bygone era, preserving its durability and authentic appearance over many decades. The aesthetic highlight is the complex geometric embroidery at the lower corners of the blanket, designed in striking angular ”Resh”-shaped forms intended to be clearly visible when the cover is fully spread across a double bed. The collectible value of the piece is doubled by the ingenious and nostalgic mechanical solution incorporated along its upper edge: a built-in fabric sleeve with sewn loops and buttons. This mechanism allowed for the optimal attachment of a top protective sheet that shielded the embroidered blanket from wear and soiling — testament to the meticulous textile-preservation culture of the past, in which items of this kind were sewn to last for generations. The item is sold as-is, as a vintage textile and collectible object. In very good, clean condition and usable. Due to many decades of long-term storage, the item displays natural fold lines (clearly visible in the photographs) and may show slight age marks or light surface yellowing of the white fabric, removable with gentle cleaning and delicate washing.  Dimensions: 210×155 cm.
