Rich Historical-Philatelic Collection of Postcards and Covers: Portrait Series of European Rulers and Works of Art, Together with Franked Items Bearing Special Event Postmarks from Congresses in Belgium, 1950s (Housed in a Dedicated Ring-Binder Album) - A collection of postcards and European ephemera, principally from Belgium and France, ranging from the early twentieth century through the 1950s. The collection is organized within a dedicated ring-binder album with a burgundy faux-leather cover, containing 12 rigid pages with 6 plastic pockets per page. Most pockets are filled on both sides, holding in total approximately 120 to 140 postcards and covers stored without adhesive. Among the notable highlights of the lot: Royal Historical Portrait Series (History of Flanders and France): An impressive educational and cultural series of postcards depicting rulers, kings, and nobles from European history. The postcards bear detailed historical texts printed in French recounting the story of each figure. Among those featured: Philippe le Bon (Philip the Good), Duke of Burgundy; Marie de Bourgogne (Mary of Burgundy). Additional prominent rulers and nobles from local royal dynasties. Reproduction and Classical Art Series: Postcards presenting reproductions of famous oil paintings, historical battle scenes, dramatic events from previous centuries, as well as thematic holiday and beach postcards from the early twentieth century. A franked philatelic section with event postmarks (Belgium, 1952): complete album pages dedicated to official postal postcards and covers that were actually sent through the mail. The items include original period stamps and bear special and rare commemorative postmarks of significant philatelic value, struck in limited edition on the occasion of philatelic exhibitions and congresses in Belgium (including in the city of Gent). Condition: Very Fine to Good (VF–Good). The postcards are fully intact, sharp, and legible. Natural patina of time on some of the papers, reasonable yellowing, without tears or significant flaws. The plastic pocket structure has preserved the items optimally without the use of adhesive. Light wear to the album. Album dimensions: 34.5 × 36 cm. 1.58 kg.
