מסעותיו פורסמו בסדרת ספרי Nouveaux Voyages en Zigzag , הספר הראשון פורסם במקור בשנת 1843
בשונה מרוב ספרי המסעות המתרכזים בהסטוריה ובטופוגרפיה , סיפורי המסעות שלו היו מלויים באגדות ובסיפורי פולקלור ובשונה מרוב האיורים האיורים שלו נלקחו מספרים שפורסמו בעבר.
ספרי הזיגזג זכו להצלחה עצומה. בין 1879 ל-1895 שבעה עשר מהספרים הללו נמכרו במאות
אלפי עותקים.
