שלום יעקב אברמוביץ', הידוע בשם העט מנדלי מוכר ספרים, היה מחשובי סופרי היידיש והעברית בעת החדשה. מנדלי, שנודע בכינוי "הסבא" של הספרות העברית והיידית המודרנית, היה בן הדור האחרון להשכלה, אולם בהמשך חייו חווה את תקופת חובבי ציון וראשית הציונות, שהשפיעו על יצירתו. מרבית ספריו וכתביו תורגמו לעברית ויצאו לאור בישראל
