Avak Sofrim by Rabbi Avraham ben Rabbi Levi Konki of Hebron. Amsterdam, [1704]

Magnificent copy of the single edition of a rare book. Leather binding with original copper locks.

Sermons and elucidations on the Torah and the Sages' Aggadot, by Rabbi Avraham ben Rabbi Levi Konki of Hebron. One of the famed emissaries of Hebron, who, for a decade, travelled to dozens of European communities and met with all the Gedolei Yisrael who approbated his book.

Printed in this book (leaf 103-106) are letters to Rabbi Moshe Zacuto (the Remez) and Rabbi Yehuda Briel, who asked him about Shabtai Zvi. It seems that the author was careful not to provide clear answers, writing that such things should not be published. The responses are rhymes, indicating the author's poetic talent.

Many approbations by Gedolei Yisrael, the rabbis of Hebron, Baal Masoret HaShas, the Maharshach, Rabbi David Oppenheim, Baal Semichat Chachamim and more.
