Sacred and Awe-Inspiring: Piece of Straw (Stroi) from the Bed of the Noam Elimelech of Lizhensk.
"For protection, blessing and success" – a piece of straw (Stroi in Yiddish) that was placed under the mattress of the Tzaddik Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk and was then passed down in the family of his grandsons.

Appearing of verso is the pedigree and how the Stroi came to the hands of the heirs' family: "I am writing down word for word as our father told me…" – a known and important family, the grandsons of his daughter Mrs. Mirish, to the famed Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Shmuel Shmerler, the Rosh Yeshiva of Sanz, who received it from his father, who received it generation by generation from the Rebbetzin Mrs. Mirish. Signed at the end is Rabbi Yitzchak Pesach Shmerler Shlita, a descendant of Rabbeinu.

The pedigree of the Shmerler family to Rabbi Elimelech:
Rabbeinu Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk author of the Noam Elimelech.
His daughter the Rebbetzin Mirish – the wife of Rabbi Eliyahu Alovitz of Sdeh lavan
Their son Rabbi Pinchas Elimelech
His son-in-law Rabbi Eliezer Lipa pf Zborov
His son-in-law Rabbi Naftali Ber Merilus of Litovsk
His son-in-law Rabbi Moshe Meir Shmerler
His son Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael
His son Rabbi Eliyahu Shmuel Shmerler – the Rosh yeshiva of Sanz
(The father of Rabbi Yitzchak Pesach, who signed this card).

Size of card: 6.5X9.5 cm. The thinnest piece of straw approx. half a centimeter in length, laminated for protection in a designed card.
