One Lot of four Rare Books from Venice 17th Century.

Three First Edition Books. Lot of 4 Rare Books Printed in Venice:


1. Shu”t MaHari ben Lev [Book Four]. Venice, 1606. Second edition.

Responsa with novellae on Masechet Kiddushin and Masechet Avodah Zarah. By Rabbi Yosef ben Lev [MaHaribl], leading scholar.
The title page has owners’ signature, penned in ancient, Ashkenazi script.
Zanetto Zanetti Press. 78 [4] leaves. 19.5 cm. Very good condition.

2. Ma’asei Chachamim. Venice, 1647. Exceedingly rare.
Aggadot of Chazal, culled from the Ein Yisrael and Beit Yehudah.
With the two rare title pages at the end of the Kol Koreh and Lu’ach HaMusaarim.
The author, Yitzchak ben Yaakov min HaLevi’im was a Shamash in the Venice ghetto. He authored an autobiography titled, Medaber Tahaphuchot, published by Dr Daniel Carpi.
Bragadin Press. 21, [2] leaves. 20 cm. Very good condition. Stains. Beautiful, new, leather binding.

A complete copy of this book has not been seen in Public Auctions.

3. Avodat HaKodesh by the Rashbah, Rabbi Shlomo ben Avraham Aderet, with Ba’alei HaNefesh of the Ra’abad, Rabbi Avraham ben David and Klalei YaYin Nesech of the Re’eh, Rabbi Avraham HaLevi. Venice, 1602. First Edition.
Avodat HaKodesh includes:
Beit Netivot – laws of Eruvei Chazeirot and Eruvei Techumin.
Beit Mo’ed – laws of food preparation on Holidays.
Ba’alei HaNefesh focuses marital harmony (from leaf 48a onwards).
Klalei Yayin Nesech of the Re’eh (leaf 75b).
Leaves 6,7,8 contain handwritten glosses.
