Memorial Book of the Chevra Kadisha of the Padua Community - with the Record of the Passing of the Ramad - R' Moshe David Vali [1749-1778].
This memorial book of the Chevra Kadisha of the Padua community contains a list of the deceased in the Padua community for about 30 years, between the years [1749-1778].
On the verso of the frontispiece, there is a title in manuscript given to the memorial book: "The Dead to Rejuvenate, " and beneath it is a formulaic title and the beginning date of the registration. On the other side, there is a registration in a Gregorian date.
The book itself is entirely written in a beautiful Italian script in an exemplary order.
For each deceased person, a brief description is recorded in addition to the exact Hebrew and Gregorian date of death. On the side of each registration, the name of the deceased is written in a small square, and on the other side, the Hebrew year is recorded.
Among the names of the deceased, there are records of rabbis, prominent members, and esteemed individuals of the Padua community, including well-known families such as Romano, Luzzatto, Triossi, Luria, Rieti, Terni, Benvenisti, and more.
Among the registrations, there is also a record of the passing of the revered Kabbalist, the well-known student of the Ramchal (Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto),
the Ramad [Rabbi Moshe David] Vali (1694 - 1776) was a Bible commentator, physician, scholar, and Jewish Kabbalist from Italy who lived in the city of Padua. He was a close companion of the Ramchal. According to the researcher Yosef Almansi, HaRav Vali was the teacher of the Ramchal in Kabbalah at the beginning of his studies.
And thus is noted in the memorial book: "...Rest his soul, the pious one... the aged and revered, the rabbi and doctor, Rabbi Moshe David Vali, when he was 82 years old. May his merit protect us..."
In total, the book includes 27 written leaves + 8 blank leaves (on one side of the page before the last page, there are handwritten notes).
30 cm. Very good condition. High-quality paper. Half-leather binding, new and attractive.
An important historical item for the history of Italian Jewry in general and the Padua community in particular.
