Sefer HaTishbi. Isny, 1541. First Edition, Complete Copy. Sefer Yesod! Lexicon of Hebrew Words. Hebrew and Latin.

The book, HaTishbi, comprises 712 root words (corresponding to the numerical value of Tishbi) along with their elucidation in Hebrew. Authored by prominent grammarian Rabbi Eliyahu HaLevi Bachur Ashkenazi. With Latin translation by the printer Paulus Bagius.

This is a complete, first edition copy, with the Hebrew and its accompanying Latin translation facing one ano ther. The word ‘Tishbi’ on the first title page is printed in Hebrew letters.

This edition was printed parallel to the Hebrew-only edition, in the same year. Both editions have the same Hebrew text.

Colophon at the end of the book, with printer’s mark of Paulus Fagius.

Rabbi Eliyahu HaLevi Ashkenazi (1469-1549) was a leading grammarian and researcher. He wrote a number of compositions on these topics. HaTishbi is certainly the most prominent of his works, and was widely disseminated and reprinted a number of times.

Isny, 1541. Hebrew and Latin. Sefer Yesod. Complete, first edition.
[8] 199, 100-275, 269-271, [5] leaves, disordered pagination. 22 cm. Very good condition. Wide margins. Thick, quality paper.

Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod 519 (that example contains only the Hebrew section).

Complete, first edition of a fundamental composition of Grammar and Lexicon of Tanach vocabulary.
