The Holy Rabbi Shlomo Molkho [5660-5692] was an extraordinary figure, unique and even messianic among the Jewish people. Not only after his martyrdom at the stake for sanctifying God's name during the Inquisition but also during his lifetime when, at the age of only twenty, he already astounded the great scholars and Kabbalists of his generation with his profound understanding.

One of the Kabbalists in his generation describes him: 'We found written in truth, and not a single one can deny, how the Chassid Molkho zt"l, suddenly, in a moment, had a spirit of wisdom descend upon him, namely Kabbalah, and it is not known from where it came to him, but as if from the heavens, his heart was opened like the entrance of a hall.' (Rabbi Yaakov ben Kalonymus Segal. Cited in 'Sfunot' 18). The Kabbalist Rabbi Avraham ben Chanania Yagel wrote a letter about Rabbi Shlomo Molkho: 'And he did not know a single book, yet he expounded publicly on ancient matters, Kabbalistic secrets... and wrote in a book some of his teachings to serve as a testimony of his wisdom that he acquired suddenly, like in the blink of an eye, what any other eye has not seen. Also, the author of the Shulchan Aruch, Rabbi Yosef Karo, describes that the 'Maggid, ' who was famous for being revealed to him from heaven, called Rabbi Shlomo Molkho 'Shlomo Bechiri' (My Chosen Shlomo). Rabbi Chaim Vital, the greatest disciple of the holy Ari, testifies about the author that he was proficient in practical Kabbalah: 'Take proof from Rabbi Yosef...and Rabbi Shlomo Molkho, who utilized practical Kabbalah and left this world.' (Sha'arei Kedusha, Part 3, Gate 6).
