Sefer Yesod: 'Mussaf HaAruch'. Amsterdam, 1655. First Edition.
'Mussaf HaAruch' by Rabbi Nathan ben Yechiel of Rome (including the text of the book 'HaAruch'). By Rabbi Benjamin Mussafia.
The book 'HaAruch' was written in the 11th century by Rabbi Nathan of Rome, and his words served as the cornerstone for all subsequent books. It is, in fact, the most comprehensive early dictionary of Rabbinic literature. In the year 1655, Rabbi Benjamin Mussaffia printed the book that is before us 'The Addition to the Aruch', as a supplement to Rabbi Nathan of Rome's book 'HaAruch', relying on his extensive knowledge of Greek and Latin. In this composition, he recognized the importance of understanding the Greek language for the comprehension of words and concepts in the Mishnah.
On the first page of the introduction and the last page of the book, there are stamps of the "Midrash Etz Chaim of the Spanish Congregation." This was the Midrash of the Portuguese community in Amsterdam.
