Responsa of The Rashba. Sefer Yesod! First Edition. Bologna, 1539. Exceptionally Impressive Copy. Numerous Handwritten Corrections, References and Glosses!
This is one of the fundamental books of Halacha and responsa. A great part of the Sefer Beit Yosef is based on the Rashba’s responsa.

Only 21 books were printed in Bologna!

This is a first edition copy of the book of the Sefer Shu”t authored by Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet, a disciple of the Ramban. Includes index pages that are missing in many other copies.

The title page features the signature of Shmuel ben Shabbat HaLevi. Needs investigation whether this is Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi of Constantinople.

Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet, The Rashba (circa. 1235-1310) was a prominent Torah Scholar from Barcelona. He was a disciple of the sages who were cousins, Rabbeinu Yona and the Ramban.
Following the Ramban’s emigration to The Holy Land in 1267, the Rashba became the uncontested leader of Spanish Jewry, greatly impacting them. The Rashba wrote extensively on numerous Torah topics. His scholarly works are studied up to this day.

Between 1536-1540, the Printing Press of The Bologna Guild of Silk Weavers, published Hebrew books. Shu”t HaRashba was the 8th of 9 titles to be published.
