She'arei Teshuva – From the Renowned Library of Arie Leib Friedlander. Constantinople, 1511.
The famous book of Rabbenu Yonah Gerondi, and one of the most important works in the field of mussar literature. The book has been printed in close to a hundred editions over the years. Post Incunabule.

The book is printed without a title page. In the colophon, it states: "The work for the sake of heaven was beautifully crafted, refined seven times... and it was completed in the city of Constantinople on Rosh Chodesh Adar II, in the year 5475 from the creation."
On the first page, there is a seal that reads: "Kehillat Moshe, Arie Leib Friedlander."

Moshe Arie Leib Friedlander (1826-1899):
Moshe Arie Leib Friedlander was a well-known book collector who donated his entire library to The Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. Shmuel Wiener published his book 'Kehillat Moshe' from the list of books he found there.
"I recall the fate of the large collection of Moshe Friedlander. He handed over his extensive library to the Russian government about sixty years ago. I have previously mentioned that at the time, the rabbis and scholars wondered why he gave them to the Russian government and not to a Jewish institution. And here is the wonder: while most of the Jewish collections were destroyed, those that were sold to the government were actually preserved. Once again, here is one of the phenomena in the lives of Jews and Judaism in Soviet Russia that can be called "a wondrous phenomenon". Incidentally, this Friedlander donated important books and established an elder's residence in Jerusalem, and unfortunately, these books are not here." [Chalutz U'Ma'as, Jubilee Book by Prof. A.Y. Katz, p. 44].

Constantinople, 1511. Post-Incunabula.
Here are pages 14-36 (missing page thirty-three. Originally: [40] pages). 20 cm. Good condition. Stains.

A fundamental and rare ethical book from the earliest Constantinople editions.
