The smallest prayer book printed up to the end of the 18th Century. 5.9 cm!
Magnificent copy with original silver binding with gilt decorations. Prayers for the months and festivals according to Sephardic custom.
We have seen various miniature books printed in the 15th Century, although none are as small as this book.
This is therefore the smallest prayer book printed up to the end of the 18th Century. The careful, painstaking effort and work that must have gone into such fine work is fascinating and mind-boggling.
This prayer book has typographic changes on the two title pages within; following p.219, and the third title page following p.222.
The silver binding is embellished with fine filigree handiwork, adorned with a matching, marked silver clasp.
