Sefer HaIttur by Rabbi Yitzchak Mari of Marseilles. Venice, 1608. First Edition. Signatures.

Halacha book authored by a 12th Century Halachic authority, who lived in Marseilles, France. Rabbi Mari was one of the leading Halachic authorities in the Provence region, expert in monetary laws, Kiddushin, Gittin and Ketuvot. This important composition mentions different sages’ opinions, and is oft quoted in the Shulchan Aruch.


Signatures of:
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Loewy Baharan of Jerusalem, (1836-1910), one of the Yishuv HaYashan of Jerusalem’s Rabbis and activists.
Yehuda Menachem Baum of Tel Aviv who writes that he received the book from his grandfather, Rabbi Nachum Bergman of Jerusalem.


Rabbi Yitzchak ben Abba Mari (1122-1193) was a Rabbi in Marseilles, Provence Region, France. Famed for his composition, HaIttur, and named Ba’al HaIttur due to this.
